The NAME That PROTECTS!
๐John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through THINE OWN NAME those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
God gave HIS OWN “NAME” to Jesus. Do you realise the wealth of revelation embedded in this singular clause?
Did you notice that JESUS said "His Own Name"? In other words, GOD has His Own Name by which He addresses and reveals Himself. That goes to say that most of the names mentioned in the Bible as God's names were not necessarily His names. They were given to Him by people who had encountered a dimension of His capability OR generosity.
Therefore, If you don't address GOD as He wants to be addressed IN THE NAME OF JESUS you're on a Verrrrry long thing. You will be cut off from experiencing ALL that He can do.

๐John 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so HATH he GIVEN TO THE SON to have life in himself; 5:27 And HATH GIVEN HIM AUTHORITY to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
Now it would interest you to know that God granted that the TOTALITY of the NATURE, POWER, and AUTHORITY of the Godhead should dwell in JESUS' human body (๐Col 2:9).
In this verse of ๐John 17:11 we have the FIRST REQUEST Jesus made for believers. It is repeated in different words in Vs 15.
He asks the Father to protect them, to keep them from evil, so that they be not LOST as Judas Iscariot was (v 12).
One reason why God (Abba Father) needs to KEEP BELIEVERS is seen here – they are still “in the world”.
Let's analyze this, shall we?
๐ God chose them “out of” the world (v 6), and
๐ they are not “of” the world (v 14), but
๐ they are still “in” it, and the world still hates them (v 14).
The world is FULL of temptations, deceiving spirits, and dangers (๐1 Pet 5:8). It is opposed to the truth, the faith and the love of God and all else precious to believers.
See ๐1 John 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and THE WHOLE WORLD LIETH IN WICKEDNESS.
Spiritually speaking the world ๐ is a DARK and DIRTY place and it is easy to get DEFILED in it and lose oneสผs way. And believers themselves are OFTEN weak and foolish, and struggle with their own FORMER sinful natures (๐Rom 7:18; ๐Gal 5:17; ๐1 John 1:8) – there is something in them which would betray them to the world and the devil.
๐ HOW, then, can BELIEVERS be SAFE?
✅There is PERFECT SAFETY because God in answer to the prayers of His Son keeps them (BELIEVERS)
See ๐Luke 22:31; ๐Rom 5:10; ๐Heb 7:25.
✅His Almighty Power is at work for them –
๐1 Pet 1:4-5; ๐Prov 18:10.
✅He has begun a good work in them, and will finish it –
๐Phil 1:6.
JESUS the Son works with the FATHER in keeping believers, and it is the ABSOLUTE WILL of God that the Lord JESUS keep them.
๐John 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of ALL which he hath given me I SHOULD LOSE NOTHING, but should raise it up again at the last day.
๐ Will He fail to do God's will in this?
NEVER! NEVER!! NEVER!!!
๐John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to DO THE WILL of him that sent me, and to FINISH HIS WORK.
JESUS Himself revealed that His purpose here was twofold:
๐ To DO The Father's Will &
๐ To FINISH The Father's Work
Executing (Doing) the assignment is not good enough, it is actually Finishing (completing, accomplishing) it that makes all the difference.
๐ BELIEVERS are SHEEP put in JESUS' Care. Will He not PRESERVE them?
Most Definitely! He Will!
๐John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH, neither shall ANY MAN PLUCK THEM OUT of my hand.
๐ He prays for them continually. Will His prayers not be heard?
Most Assuredly! It Will!
๐John 11:42 And I KNEW that THOU HEAREST ME ALWAYS: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
The answer to the prayers of Christ are NOT based on the GOOD BEHAVIOR of believers (even though it's profitable for believers to display good behavior), or on their continuing in faith (even though that is an essentiality).
The OPPOSITE of this is TRUE – their good behavior and continuing in faith are DEPENDENT ON JESUS' PRAYERS.
