JESUS WAS GOD!
(Understanding The Divinity & Humanity Of JESUS)
📖John 1:1
📜 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD.
One of the major truths of the Scriptures that must become a reality to you is that "JESUS was not just a MAN sent from God, He was GOD".
This is the MOST IMPORTANT STATEMENT of the New Testament. On this truth hangs all other truths.
📖Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, THE ALMIGHTY.
If JESUS was only a MAN, then regardless of how good He was, His life could only provide a substitute for one other man. But since He was GOD, His life was worth more than every human life since creation.
Indeed it was worth more than the sum total of the universe that He created.
Any compromise on this point will negate the work of CHRIST in our lives. JESUS was God manifest in the flesh. In other words, He was the GOD-MAN!!! In Biblical Hermeneutics this is called "HYPOSTATIC UNION", meaning that JESUS was 100% GOD (Divine) and yet 100% MAN (Human)!
📖1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Yet this ALMIGHTY GOD came to dwell in a human body. He humbled Himself and took the form of a servant.
📖Philippians 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and TOOK upon him the FORM of a SERVANT, and was made in the likeness of men
Notice words like "took" and "was made"! The very fact that these words are used in the verse above should tell us something significant about the Deity and Humanity of JESUS, side by side.
Let ME construe:👇
If JESUS "TOOK the form of a servant" that means He was not so originally; if He "was made in the likeness of men" then it goes to prove that He was not initially a man but GOD! He "took" and "was made" because of His assignment but He is GOD by existence!
📖1 John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son TO BE the Saviour of the world.
Did you notice the phrase "to be"?
The fact that JESUS was sent to be the Savior means He was not a Savior originally. In other words, He was GOD. So, this means that JESUS (Who is GOD) became what He was not (man) so that man can become what he could never be (God).
Why wasn't JESUS a Savior initially?
Because there was nothing and no one to save. But when the fullness of time was come when mankind needed Salvation, then, He stepped out of ETERNITY into TIME and got the job done. 📖Gal 4:4
Furthermore, CHRIST'S HUMANITY truly made Him one of us. He suffered the same temptations and pressures that we suffer.
📖Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
It was HIS DIVINITY, however, that gave Him the power to save us to the max.
📖Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
✒ There are Two Things You MUST Understand:
1⃣ We must NEVER let HIS HUMANITY blind us to the fact that ALMIGHTY GOD HIMSELF became our FRIEND
📖John 15:13-15
📜 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I HAVE CALLED YOU FRIENDS; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
AND
2⃣ We must NEVER let HIS DIVINITY blind us to the fact that He KNOWS exactly how we feel and CARES for us.
📖1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for HE CARETH FOR YOU.
Let the HOLY SPIRIT give you a TRUE REVELATION of the DEITY and HUMANITY of our LORD JESUS CHRIST throughout your lifetime.
📖1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son JESUS CHRIST. THIS IS THE TRUE GOD, and eternal life.
